Baby Blanket, Cot Blanket, Knee Rug. Blue, Grey Recycled Wool. Multicoloured, but with the emphasis on purple and turquoise. Sewn with lime green thread.
A supersoft upcycled blanket, made using one hundred squares of recycled knitwear, with oodles of lambswool, which has been sewn together using an overlocker, with seams on the outside making an interesting detail, but also making it super smooth for baby’s skin, or comfy for a lap blanket or throw.
Measures approx. 35 x 35 “ (90 x 90 cm)
Upcycling means to use waste and transform it into something new, more pleasing and with a new use. It is the process of adding value to preloved items through design. I gather locally sourced recycled wool knitwear for upcycling. There are so many textiles just shipped abroad or thrown into landfill. I am on a mission to recycle waste wool, be it from the second hand clothing sector, or from the few remaining UK factories that manufacture wool knitwear in the UK.
All jumpers have a high wool content, including lambswool and cashmere and have been chosen for their colour and texture. Working from my home in rural West Northumberland, I give all recycled woollies a wash, then choose colours that go well together. The jumpers are then cut into squares and sewn with an industrial overlocker with seams showing for added texture and interest.
All designs are one offs, one of a kind, unique products. so you will never find anyone else wearing exactly the same creation as you.
